ABOUT

If you're currently a member of the Communications Residential College, then you're on your way to living in CRC in the next academic year.

The room selection process is conducted by the Vice President of the Communications Residential College, and normally takes place in spring quarter subject to the timetable of Residential Services. The executive board will announce the arrangements for the housing selection process during the academic year.

At the beginning of the process, all rooms are made available for selection.

SELECTION ORDER

The order of selection is governed by the Constitution of the Communications Residential College, and is based on each individual's preference status when the housing selection process is administered.

As of the 2016-2017 academic year, the order of preference specified in the Constitution is:

  1. Third-year members with 2 preferred quarters
  2. Second-year members with 2 preferred quarters
  3. First-year members with 2 preferred quarters
  4. Third-year members with 1 preferred quarter
  5. Second-year members with 1 preferred quarter
  6. First-year members with 1 preferred quarter
  7. All other acceptable members
  8. Members of other residential colleges that are not members of the Communications Residential College

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

Incoming freshmen are selected by the Communications Residential College and Residential Services, and are not subject to this returning student housing selection process.

The President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Tech Chairs are guaranteed housing according to the residential college's Constitution, but do not receive any special priority in the housing selection process.

There is a limit to how many members may return to live in the Communications Residential College, but this limit has not been reached in recent years. The order of selection also determines the individuals that will receive housing if the limit is reached.

Members of other residential colleges at Northwestern that are not members of the Communications Residential College wishing to live in the residential college must submit a 100-word explanation to the Vice President by the beginning of spring quarter.
