WELCOME TO THE BEST COMMUNITY ON CAMPUS

Northwestern's only dorm with a movie theater (actually, we have two)!

WHAT IS CRC?

The Communications Residential College, or CRC, at Northwestern University is the perfect community for students interested in writing, photography, visual and audial media, and more!

Because of this, CRC has a large proportion of students with interests in media and communication. Our most popular majors are journalism, radio/television/film (RTVF), theater, and communications studies. Students of all academic disciplines and backgrounds are welcome and thrive in our accepting and outgoing community!

The Communications Residential College exists to foster an environment promoting the study and collective understanding of communication in all its myriad forms, be it words, images or sound.

Meet Our People

Why is membership in the Communications Residential College so amazing? It's because of our student exec board, college staff and faculty fellows.

ROGER BOYE, FACULTY CHAIR

Roger Boye joined the ranks of Northwestern University’s emeritus faculty in 2005.

He continues to direct the Medill-Northwestern Journalism Institute (previously called the Journalism Division of the National High School Institute), and serves as faculty chair of Northwestern’s Communications Residential College.

As faculty chair, Roger provides support to members of the executive board in the operation of the residential college, and organizes faculty-led events and excursion for the residential college's members.

Ellie Caro, PRESIDENT

Ellie Caro is a second year double majoring in Theatre and Environmental Policy. She is also a songwriter, an Emerging Scholar, and a NYT Games enthusiast. She can't wait to welcome and support all of the new CRCitizens this fall!

As President, Ellie presides over executive board meetings and All-College Meetings, represents the Communications Residential College on the Residential College Board and during University events, oversees residential college activities, ensures officers fulfill their responsibilities, and organizes CRC's internal elections.

Check Out Our Home

CRC is home to around 100 residents in all schools on campus, and our little home has something for everyone.

Big Screening room

Located off the main lounge, the screening room has an HD projector and a fifteen-foot wall screen, and is outfitted with sofas and chairs to make it one of the best places on campus for a medium-sized group to watch films or play very large Mario Kart.

Radio Room

The Radio Room, exclusively managed by the Tech Chair, is perhaps one of the most mysterious of CRC's open-to-all facilities. Every year, the Radio Room is the center of life for Radiothon, CRC's annual 50-hour radio broadcast fundraiser

Lounges

Lounges are open to all members of CRC, and people often spend time hanging out in each other's lounges. The lounges often end up as the center of social interaction and exam reviews during the course of the academic year, by offering a smaller community within the larger social group of CRC.
